Math In the Real World Project

I demonstrated rational numbers in my project because I can perform math operations with rational numbers examples - as decimals, fractions, squares, and square root (s). In my case I used square roots and squares to be able to answer my question. My learning process/project demonstrated these math competencies - communication, technology, strategies, connections, and also self-respect. Communication because I had to interacted/present with others. Technology because I had to do my research on my computer and for the math part I had to convert cm 3 (cubed) to m 3 (cubed). Also to record, communicate and represent thing. Strategies because I had to understand what order to put my numbers/equation so that I would get my right answer to my question. Connections because for my project I made mathematical connections to the real world and math concepts to each other. Self-respect because i'm organized, gets work done on time, making appropriate choices for my own learning and also mostly ready to learn new ways/and ideas in/for math. I learned how to calculate the
volume of pyramid (divided by)

volume of apple juice boxes (1L)
which equals the total number of apple juice boxes to make the Pyramid of Giza. By the way the answer I got was - 3,162,156,098. I see math differently now that i'm done my project by looking more closely at the numbers that are given and it was a different kind of math for me because I don't really work with numbers that big, and this project inquired more thinking about what to measure and what to divide by. Next time I might want to do differently in my project is nothing really, I liked my question and the equation I had to make and the solving part too. It was a little bit different then I usually do but that was the challenge for me is to try something a little bit more harder each time, but still so you can do it. Also I also like the size of my project I did/chose but what I think I could add to it is more questions after i'm done my big question is to go more in-depth with more questions. Like for example  - How many times would my number answer ( 3,162,156,098 ) go around earth?.
Well that's all I wanted to say
Bye Bye!!

Gravity Movie Response

In the movie Gravity, what struck me about resilience is that people can find strength to cope from dreams and by doing things you think you cannot do but have to do.
In this movie, George Clooney would give up his life, to be able to give Sandra Bullock enough time to get into the space satellite without dying. Sandra Bullock became stronger when she dreamt that George Clooney had said she had two options. George Clooney told her she could shut down everything, not worry about anything and die, or she could turn on the engine and make it to earth safely. In my opinion, I think Sandra Bullock's challenges were coping with her near loss of life accidents and George Clooney's sacrifice to save her. I think that Sandra Bullock's character became more resilient when she realized she couldn't just sit around in the control room because that way she wouldn't get back down to earth. Instead, she had to challenge herself to land back on earth by herself for both her daughter and for George Clooney. Characteristics that make people more resilient can include - not giving up when something is hard, thinking ahead into the future and not dwelling in the past, and thinking of a positive reward to motivate yourself.

Historical Roots For Wildlife Crossings

Wildlife crossing have been around for a little while now. In the 1980s, the Canadian Banff National Parks set up standard North American wildlife crossings making or constructing 22 underpasses and two overpasses where the highway bisects the parks. Other research shows that grizzlies, wolves, elk, and other animals have used the wildlife crossings about 240,000 times which resulting in a 80% percent decline in collisions with cars. Other researchers also have documented mothers teaching their young (babies) how to negotiate different routes to take. The impacted of bigger animals cause more damage to vehicles than smaller animals such as rabbits and foxes.

My Novel Response

Hi so i'm going to write a summary of a book that i'm reading. So lets start off with the tittle of the book is City of Glass and the author is Cassandra Clare. I think that this book is one of my favourite that I have ever read. This is the 3rd book in the series that is called The Mortal Instruments which has altogether 5 books in this series. Clary is the main character in the book who is 16 of age, then theres Simon Clary's best friend and get turned into a vampire in the second book, well there Jace too who is Clary's brother and is in love with Clary which finds out that Jace isn't really Clarys brother so that is the three characters that are most mentioned in the book but really all of the characters in the book in important. City of Glass is about the teen age girl, Clary who to save her mother's life must travel to the City of Glass the ancestral home for the shadowhunnters. Never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law. For Clary breaking the Law could mean death. Clary soon finds out that Simon has been put in the shadowhunnters jail because he's a vampire, who can withstand sunlight also Clary also realize that Jace doesn't even want her there or is Jace trying to protect Clary, so she won't get hurt?. Clary soon finds out more deep dark secrets about her family pass. Also there is the war that might make shadowhunters and downworlders fight together (one shadowhunter and one downworlder to be able to share each others power) against the demons Valentine summons (by the way Valentine is Clary's and Sebastian's dad, also Jace's pretend dad). I believe that Clary's character feels like a real life teenager, except for the running, hiding, and killing demons. I think and also believe that Cassandra Clare has made Clary like a real teenager the way Clary talks and her attitude in being like a teenager. So that's all I wanted to say.

My Opinion of the Movie "Miss. Representation"

So now I'm going to tell you guys my opinion about the movie "Miss. Representation". I am going to tell you my opinion about the movie in my own kind of thinking. Personally, I think that it was a good idea to make a move about how women and girls are being treated unfairly in the media but my question is "will a lot of different kinds of people want to watch this movie?" "or will it be just women". The movie really made me feel like men have ruled the media and things are not going to change just quickly. You have work on things to be able to change. I still think everything is a start even if little. The actors and actresses in the movie state that everyone has to come together to help stop the media posting unfairly pictures and articles about women and girls to post to the media. I personally think this movie has changed the way I look at models in magazines and women on the the web. They are setting the bar way to high up and making impossible standards for women and girls to follow. I learned in the movie that almost all of the photos you see are edited and photoshopped to make women perfect but in reality women and girls aren't prefect like shown in the media and in magazines.

Here is the like to the home page of the movie "Miss. Representation".

Miss. Representation - Rhetorical Questioning

So in class my partner and I have watch the movie "Miss. Representation" and look rhetorical questions. Rhetorical questioning means a question asked without being answered. The title of the film is "Miss. Representation". My argument is how women and girls are treated unfairly in the media. The devices and examples I seen in the film is for rhetorical question is “ Am I good enough?” lots of women and girls say things like what the female actress says in the movie to real life women and girls. This help's to argue the filmmaker perspective because women and girls are being used and treated unfairly in the media compared to the men and boys.

My express your self challenge

Picture of Panda (was) my cat.

This is a picture I did of my kitty cat, Panda. I choose to draw a picture of my cat for my express your self challenged because he was always there for me and he was my best friend. I didn't quite get to finish my drawing but it's still good. This drawing took me about 4 hours-ish (around) and I did do touching up a little bit to my picture. I really miss him now but I know that he is always looking out for me. I really hope you guys and girls like it and maybe I will draw another picture and post it.
Bye-bye!!!
